From a House to a Bag. I had sold my house in Dunedin, New Zealand. A house I had slowly renovated over seven years. It happened very fast. And I went from a house, to whittling my life into a carry on size travel bag.
I sold and gave away, packed up and a friend Jane stored my possessions. Hosting a potluck dinner before leaving, a dj friend played music and there was a conga line through the house. People left with gifts of plants, cushions, chairs, etc. And I set off to visit my parents, in Kati Kati, and then Auckland to stay with friends before leaving.
I had ordered a new passport, due to needing extra paperwork, it came the day before leaving. Tight squeeze! I was now officially heading to Guatemala via LA, as this was the best route to get to there.

29 Sept – Flew from Auckland to Los Angeles (British Airways) arriving at 6.30 am, on the same day. Beth kindly picked me up from the airport, I was to stay at her Air b n b. In the afternoon after a rest, I walked to Venice Beach from her house. It was so alive. I smiled as many cheeky characters asked me out multiple times. They seem to percolate there. That evening, I went out for dinner with Beth at a local restaurant. She said my story about selling my house to travel inspired her.

30 Sept – I flew the next day 11 am, to Guatemala City (via Dallas stopover).
